Tudu inspects works done under Jal Jeevan Mission

KOHIMA, December 06 2022: Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu on his maiden 2-day visit to the Nagaland Tuesday visited Seithekema- a village under Chumoukedima district, to inspect the works carried out under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The village chairman Kelengulie Khro warmly received the minister along with other members of the village council and WATSAN committee. Thanking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership in bringing the basic needs of the villagers to the forefront and improving the quality of living.
He also acknowledged Jacob Zhimomi, minister of PHED for taking up their village under this scheme ahead of others.
Tudu in his interaction with the villagers stated that after 75 years of independence, under Modiji's leadership, the villages have been made accessible to tap connections at their household level. It is reported that under JJM, Seithekema- a village has been taken up as a retrofitting scheme and completed during 2021.
Around 93 households have been provided with functional household tap connection which fulfils the aspirations of the mission. He enquired from the villagers if there was any difference after implementation of JJM and they responded that water now is regular and adequate.
The Union MoS was happy that the villagers are operating the distribution system and collecting Rs 30 per month as user charge to meet their expenses.
During this visit, he was accompanied by officials from PHED including officers from PHED
Rural Di vision, Dimapur and the EAC Seithekema circle.
