AGARTALA, March 02 2021: Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) operationalized its Vigilance – cum – Intelligence Cell in December 2020 with one Chief Vigilance Officer, two Deputy Vigilance Officers, three Senior Vigilance Officers, two MRCBCs, two line staffs and four police personal to collect intelligence of irregularities in work, maintain vigilance on the field level works, attend the complaints against employees regarding corrupt practice and also to ensure integrity, transparency and to develop a healthy work culture in the Corporation as well as to take all necessary steps towards removal of all kinds of commercial losses of the Corporation including misconduct, revenue blockage, under billing/ wrong billing, enquiry, raid against theft of power, etc in accordance with the provision of the Electricity Act 2003 as amended up to date with special emphasis on Section 126, Section 133, Section 138, etc. The Chief Vigilance Officer will directly report to the Managing Director of the Corporation.
This initiative of Dr MS Kele, Managing Director, TSECL has increased awareness in consumers, employees and other stakeholders. Further, it will not only reduce the commercial losses of the Corporation but also help in providing quality power to the genuine consumers.
This Cell started visiting consumers’ premises from December 8 2020 and up to February 2021, the officers of this Cell checked 429 consumers’ premises and found different kinds of anomalies like enhancement of load without permission (15 nos), change of category/ wrong tariff application (77 nos), pilferage observed (4 nos), CT/PT connection error or burnt (73 nos), Wrong MF (14 nos). In view of the above, as per the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003; total penalty imposed on such defaulting consumers is Rs 2, 28, 256.00 and the full amount has also been realized from the concerned defaulting consumers.
Dr Kele, MD, TSECL appealed to the consumers not to indulge in illegal activities and pay the electricity bills in time to get the benefit of rebate.
