Tripura govt advances curfew, CM says lockdown possible

AGARTALA, July 11 2020: Tripura government declared new two sets of night curfew schedule enforced Saturday. Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar issued a memorandum to impose new timings of night curfew and to announce continuation of other measures as well as restrictions to fight against spread of coronavirus.
Henceforth curfew will be imposed from 9 pm to 5 am in place of hitherto 10 pm to the 5 am.
The order also informed of curfew from 7 pm to 7 am within the 2 km of the Indo – Bangladesh border areas.
Senior Minister and state government spokesperson Ratan Lal Nath in the evening told newsmen that border locations are found affected in the current surge.
Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar reiterated decisions of closure of all education institutions and continuation of all other restrictions in view pandemic till July 31.
Tripura recorded 1935 cases till Friday and the count of Saturday is awaited.
Earlier in the day Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said the government is considering re-imposition of lockdown measure in wake of surge of Covid-19 cases. He regretted over violation of curfew and health restrictions as well as lack of awareness among people on pandemic.
