AGARTALA, November 19, 2019: Kolkata police arrested two Turkish nationals and two Bangladeshis involved in ATM frauds in Tripura and Assam over past a month. The arrest made sustainable progress in the investigation into biggest ever bank heists in northeast India.
Police teams from Assam and Tripura on Tuesday reached Kolkata to take the fraudsters in custody through transit remand. Assam police may likely get custody first because of preferential demand.
The Turkish nationals are identified as Hakan Zanburkan and Fettah Aldemir while Bangladeshis are Mohammad Hannan and Mohammad Rafiqul Islam.
Three dozen customers of the State Bank of India together lost nearly 50 lakhs in ATM frauds in Agartala. The bank already blocked ATM cards of several hundred customers as a precautionary security reason.
