Tributes paid at 8th Dr APJ Abdul Kalam memorial event

REGIONAL, July 28, 2024: IIM Shillong held the 8th Dr APJ Abdul Kalam memorial lecture on his death anniversary. The event began with floral tributes to Kalam, highlighting his association with IIM Shillong and his significant impact.

Dr Sanjeev Ningombam, Centre Head of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, welcomed attendees and discussed Dr Kalam's teaching legacy. The "Nurturing Minds" initiative, launched in 2015, aimed to pay tribute to Kalam's vision of "Education for All" by establishing strong connections with local schools.

Dr SP Agarwal, Director of North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), delivered the keynote address, discussing ISRO's contributions to disaster management, the Moon Mission, and the evolution of space technology.

The lecture also highlighted India's accomplishments in the space sector and an exhibition showcasing India's space achievements. It ended with students leaving with a determination to transform their dreams into reality.
