AGARTALA, January 02 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the people of Tripura will always remember Surajit Datta, a former Minister and MLA who recently passed away owing to illness. He paid tribute to the departed leader while speaking at a condolence meeting organised by Pradesh BJP to honor his memory Tuesday.
Dr Saha mentioned that Datta's entry into politics was surprising to many, but he was successful in winning elections and dedicated his life to public service.
The Chief Minister praised Datta for his ability to show respect to elders, love to the younger generation, and build strong bonds with the people. He also noted that Datta's speeches were always well-received by the public.
"In politics or personal life, he (Datta) was a man who will never be forgotten by the people of Tripura. Sunu da (as Surajit Datta was affectionately called), who dedicated his life to public service, will always hold a special place in our hearts," said the Chief Minister, who had a close association with the late MLA.
"He was always willing to help others and knew how to show respect to elders, love to the younger generation, and build strong bondage with the people,” Chief Minister said.
“Sunu da despite his poor health, continued to attend Assembly sessions and party events. Though he is no longer with us physically, he will always be with us in spirit," Dr Saha opined.
The condolence meeting was also graced by BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, BJP Vice Presidents Ashok Sinha and Subal Bhowmik, and several ministers.
