Stage set for Covishield vaccine drive, Consignments reach

AGARTALA, January 13 2021: As many as 56,500 doses of Coronavirus vaccine Covishield were flown into Agartala Wednesday morning. The doses were transferred to a special storage unit at National Health Mission (NHM) office in Agartala.
State immunization Officer Kallol Roy informed that the doses will be distributed to all districts. He also said that all the district officials reached the state store with vaccine vans to collect their vaccines.
The Covishield, the Serum Institute of India's coronavirus vaccine, reached all eight district headquarters with tight security from Agartala this evening four days ahead of the nationwide inoculation drive.
In the first phase around 45,420 health care workers would be vaccinated. This will be followed by the frontline workers, including the police, armed personnel, municipal workers in the second phase.
Data collection templates were forwarded to the urban department, home department and CAPF.
