Rajib Bhattacharjee appointed new Tripura BJP President

Met former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to express his gratitude

AGARTALA, August 25 2022: BJP National President JP Nadda has appointed Rajib Bhattacharjee as new Tripura Pradesh President ahead of his two-day visit to the state. Bhattacharjee was state Vice President prior to his elevation. 

The party high command earlier considered a number of names including Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, MP Rebati Tripura and state Secretary Kishore Barman for the position. It sought opinion of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as the state will embrace assembly elections within six months from now and the opposition parties like Congress and CPI(M) are gaining political ground owing to different factors.

The new appointment became necessary after state President Dr Manik Saha was made Chief Minister on May 15 and he was to be relieved from the post to respect bylaws of the BJP.

Soon after appointment new President Rajib Bhattacharjee met former CM Biplab Kumar Deb to convey his gratitude. Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik and senior leaders were present.

Bhattacharjee also met Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.

Meanwhile Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted that ‘we will work hard to strengthen the BJP and ensure our victory in 2023 assembly election.'
