Pharmacy shops need to install CCTV cameras
District Drug Controller Authority to randomly check the footage

SHILLONG, January 20 2022: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, has directed all the medical and pharmacy shops of the District selling scheduled H, H1 or X drugs as per Rules 65 of Drugs and Cosmetics Act & Rules 1945 to install CCTV cameras inside and outside of the shops. A time period of one month has been given to the shop owners for installation of CCTV cameras.
Footage of CCTV camera may be randomly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority / CWPO at anytime. In case any medical and pharmacy shop fails to comply with the order, appropriate action shall be taken by the DC East Khasi Hills against such person or owner as empowered under relevant portions of law.
The Deputy Commissioner said this order comes into force with immediate effect and to remain in force until further orders.
