NSD is set to host its 25th annual Bharat Rang Mahotsav
World's largest theatre festival in 13 cities in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka
THE NATIONAL SCHOOL OF DRAMA (NSD) is set to host its 25th annual Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM), the world's largest theatre festival, from January 28 to February 16 across 13 cities in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The festival, known as 'Bharangam', will feature over 200 unique productions from nine different countries showcasing performances from 13 locations in India and abroad.
The festival will also feature satellite chapters in Nepal and Sri Lanka, with Indian satellite locations including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhatinda, Bhopal, Goa, Gorakhpur, Jaipur, Khairagarh and Ranchi.
NSD Director Chittaranjan Tripathy said BRM 2025 has become a global platform for theatre performances and facilitated knowledge-sharing and idea-exchange among individuals from the dramatic arts and other creative fields. The festival will also feature the 'Vishwa Jan Rang', virtual performances of short plays by NRIs across seven continents worldwide and by the youth of India.
The opening ceremony of BRM 2025 will be held on January 28 at the Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi, featuring a musical evening titled Rang Sangeet by the NSD Repertory Company. The festival coincides with the 65th and 60th anniversary of the National School of Drama Repertory Company with the Repertory Company celebrating the Rang Shashthi theatre festival series and presenting its productions in various locations.
