NF Railway has removed 17 Permanent Speed Restrictions (PSRs) imposed over the track due to various reasons; thereby saving running time of 4.6 minutes for all the trains running in those sections and speed has been raised over 170.50 Kms length of railway track till the last month during this financial year.
NF Railway removed 3 PSRs between Fakiragram- New Bongaigaon and New Jalpaiguri-New Coochbehar in Alipurduar division, 1 PSR between New Jalpaiguri-Raninagar in Katihar division and 13 PSRs between Lumding-Guwahati in Lumding division, total 17 PSRs which were imposed over the railway track due to various reasons such as sharp curves, shrinkage of railway track or inadequate transition portion of the curve on the railway track etc.
It may be mentioned here that raising of speed has also been done between New Coochbehar-Golakganj in Alipurduar division from 70 kmph to 90 kmph for a stretch of 59 km; between Lumding –Habaipur in Lumding division from 75 kmph to 105 kmph for a stretch of 25 km and between Furkating-Jorhat-Mariani in Tinsukia division from 50 kmph to 75 kmph for a stretch of 86.5 km, totalling 170.50 km of railway track.
