Neiphiu Rio visits landslide affected area at NH-29
Reassured public that the government would respond positively

REGIONAL, September 05, 2024: Nagaland's Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio Thursday visited the area of Pherima which was affected by a landslide that resulted in the loss of six lives and significant damage to properties. During his visit, he personally inspected the affected areas and reassured the public that the government would respond positively to the situation.
Rio also met with officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and instructed them to ensure that at least one lane of National Highway-29 is available for emergency transportation of essential goods. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Polan John.
Zhaleo Rio, an advisor from the Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Department, conducted an on-site inspection and listened to the grievances of the affected public. He advised them to submit evidence of damages, including photos, to the relevant authorities.
Rokolhu Angami, a contractor and proprietor of Nagaamii Infra con Pvt Ltd also took it upon himself to clear obstacles and damaged vehicles from National Highway 29 in Pherima Village.
