National conference on hill-agro ecosystem held Friday
Two day conference was attended by 250 participants

REGIONAL, November 29, 2024: The ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Nagaland Center and the Indian Association of Hill Farming organised a national conference on "Hill-Agro Ecosystem; Challenges and Opportunities for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals" at the ICAR Center in Jharnapani, Medziphema Friday. Governor La Ganesan who inaugurated the conference as the chief guest expressed gratitude to the organisers and participants for addressing issues and supporting Hill Community Prosperity.
He highlighted the evolution of sustainable cropping patterns and resource management practices within the diverse Hill Agro Ecosystem to meet the food and livelihood requirements of the people in the region. The Governor also highlighted the numerous challenges faced by the hill farming sector and the need for the enhancement of these skills.
He spoke on the uniqueness of Indigenous crops and farming practices in Nagaland, which has the potential to develop market agriculture products to benefit local communities and preserve the rich biodiversity. The two day conference was attended by 250 scientists, researchers, educators, students and stakeholders.
