Tripura’s Amal Ghosh set a new record, gets six gold medals

AGARTALA, July 24, 2024: Master power lifter Amal Kumar Ghosh from Tripura continued his success in the National Classic and Equipped Powerlifting Championship held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. A team of four from the state, including three master players and a coach, participated in the competition.
Ghosh, who had a successful run in the previous year, set a new record by winning seven medals, including six gold medals and an all-India record in bench press in classic powerlifting. In Tuesday's competition, he won three gold medals in the 66kg plus category in the classic powerlifting event for the squat, bench press and overall champion.
He continued his winning streak Wednesday by securing three gold medals in the squat, bench press and overall categories, and a silver medal in the deadlift at the Equipped Powerlifting Championships. The other two master powerlifters in the state team were Shubham Roy and Sameer Dey.
Sports enthusiasts are hopeful that this achievement in the National Master Powerlifting event will serve as an inspiration for the next generation of athletes.
