Lockdown in Tripura, border with Bangladesh sealed

AGARTALA, March 23, 2020: Tripura government has announced lockdown from 2pm Tuesday to keep the state safe from deadly Coronavirus. The enforcement would continue till March 31.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced decision Monday evening after a meeting with senior ministers and officials. He said public transport would remain shut while all segments of essential services would function as usual.
Since prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC has been in place, people should not venture out of their house, he advised.
Chief Minister appealed people at large to remain indoors to help government cope with the deadly health situation which already took a heavy toll across the globe. He warned action as per law against any violation of the restriction.
Deb informed of sealing off the border with Bangladesh to prevent cross border movement through illegal routes. He warned that local Panchayat office bearers and police would be held responsible if any Bangladeshi is detected.
Chief Minister later held meeting with police top brass to discuss border and infiltration issue. He directed them for compliance with the decisions to stem spread of Coronavirus.
