Empowering 15-day camping celebration kicked off

AGARTALA, February 22, 2024: A one-day seminar was held to kick off a 15-day camping celebration honoring International Women's Day. The event was jointly organised by Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) and Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK) and took place at the Meghlipara Panchayat Hall.
It brought together women from the Meghlipara Tea Garden for a day of knowledge sharing and community building. This year, VYK is collaborating with organizations across India to amplify the message of women's empowerment over the next two weeks.
The Meghlipara programme, held under the auspices of YVK, marks the beginning of this nationwide effort.
The event was graced Madam Charu, Deputy Collector of West Tripura District Administration, who served as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote speech. The programme, led by Pratima Debbarma, Sujay Majumder and Hema Chowdhury, provided a platform for women tea garden workers to engage in open dialogue, share their experiences, and learn about their rights and opportunities.
The coming days promise a diverse range of activities and workshops, further enriching the 15-day celebration. Charu's inspiring words resonated with the audience, highlighting the pivotal role women play in building a stronger society. Biswajit Shil, Chairman of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti, inaugurated the program with esteemed guests, including Advocate Sameer Ghosh, Chairman of TTDC, Amit Nadi, Social Worker, Santanu Datta, BDO of Old Agartala RD Block, Ajay Biswas, Pradhan, Anupam Debnath, and Debashis Majumder, President of YVK.
