India to host World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit at Goa
Sector is expected to contribute to India's goal USD 5 trillion economy
THE UNION GOVERNMENT is set to host the first World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Goa from November 20 to 24 2024. The event, organised by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, will focus on the Indian media and entertainment industry, which is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country.
The Indian Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector is expected to reach a value of nearly USD 54 billion by 2026 driven by rising incomes, fast internet availability, low data rates, large smartphone penetration and growing consumer demand.
With favourable policy interventions, the M&E sector is expected to contribute significantly to India's goal of achieving a USD 5 trillion economy. WAVES will bring M&E leaders together to discuss issues, mechanisms, and opportunities for enhancing opportunities.
The summit will include roundtable discussions, cross-cultural content promotion, AVGC industry promotion, promotion of Indian IPs, business opportunities for global and Indian players, and showcasing the Indian talent pool. Hosting WAVES will help India represent itself as a global player in the media and entertainment sector.
