AGARTALA, February 01, 2025: Former Tripura Chief Minister and MP from West Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb hailed the union budget for 2025-26 which was presented in Lok Sabha on Saturday. In a statement released to the news media, he said the budget aims to improve the lives of middle and lower-income citizens, reflecting the hopes of all social groups and promoting overall development in India.
Deb's statement goes as below -
The union budget for 2025-26 is designed to empower the poor, youth, farmers, and women, aligning with India's vision of becoming a developed nation.
In the past decade, India has emerged stronger on the global stage, and this budget emphasizes India's growing role in the global economy. It includes tax exemptions for annual incomes up to Rs 12 lakh, plans to simplify the tax structure, and relief in TDS for senior citizens, benefitting the middle and lower classes.
The budget also promotes 100 percent foreign investment in the insurance sector and includes initiatives to empower women economically and socially.
Development in agriculture, production, employment, and rural areas will create new opportunities. The budget supports tourism, with plans to redevelop 50 tourist centers, boosting the economy. There are measures to enhance exports, eliminate duties on 36 cancer drugs, and initiatives in nuclear energy production. Special support for butter cultivation aims to improve the financial condition of those involved.
Credit facilities for small and medium industries will be expanded, with new fertilizer factories planned in Assam and three more in the east. A target of creating 22 lakh new jobs in the leather industry is set to increase production and benefits for artisans. The boosted loan limit on Kisan Credit Cards and initiatives under the Dhan Dhanya Yojana aim to support farmers.
India seeks to maintain its rapid economic growth with initiatives for medical education expansion, the construction of new airports, and benefits for small industries and fishermen. This budget is seen as a pathway toward growth for all regions and acknowledges the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
