Awareness session aimed to outline opportunities available to MSMEs

AGARTALA, January 10, 2025: The Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata organised a One-Day Awareness Session on 'Evolving Local to Focal - Focus MSME Entrepreneurs' in Agartala Friday in partnership with the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. The session aimed to outline business opportunities available to MSMEs and enable them to become more competitive in defence manufacturing and exports.
The event was supported by the Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), Tripura Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Association of Industries and Commerce, Agartala. 
Balpreet Singh, Manager, Aerospace & Defence, Ernst & Young LLP, highlighted Tripura's existing capabilities that could be leveraged by MSMEs and start-ups for becoming part of the aerospace and defence supply chain. He urged the State Government authorities to promote innovation in bamboo composites for defence applications and explore hydrocarbon reserves for energy-intensive industries.
Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director General (M&P), Defence Investment & Corridors Cell, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, briefed the initiatives undertaken by DDP to attract the Indian industry for creating a Domestic Defence Industrial eco-system. He also highlighted the opportunities for MSMEs in Tripura to contribute to India's defence sector growth through the Srijan Portal, an initiative promoting 'Make in India' defence manufacturing.
SK Majee, Chief Manager – Integrated Material Management, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, highlighted the opportunities for MSMEs in Tripura to contribute to India's defence sector growth through the Srijan Portal, an initiative promoting 'Make in India' defence manufacturing. He reaffirmed HAL's commitment to support MSMEs through handholding, expertise sharing, and fostering collaborations to help them achieve their full potential.
