KOTTAYAM, March 08, 2025: The Rubber Board is to begin geo-mapping for rubber plantations in Kerala by next week. This will be done by capturing crucial details such as land ownership, area and boundaries of rubber holdings.
This digital mapping effort will initially focus on the ten rubber-growing districts in Kerala before expanding to other regions. The geo-mapping is done as part of the certification of natural rubber under Indian Sustainable Natural Rubber (iSNR) to align Indian rubber production with the European Union Deforestation Regulations (EUDR).
This initiative is aimed at elevating India's global stature in the natural rubber industry. The Rubber Board has engaged M/s Trayambu Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd Hyderabad (TRST01) for Geo Mapping purposes.
As part of compliance with EUDR regulations, supply chain mapping, development of traceability systems and geo-mapping of the plantations are pre-requisites for iSNR. This provides traceability certification, guaranteeing the origin of the rubber and ensuring compliance with EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requirements.
This certification will enable Indian rubber exporters to tap into the European market while promoting sustainability and industry growth. Based on risk assessment and legality analysis, a 'due diligence' certificate will be issued to ensure that the products are fully compliant with the deforestation-free regulations in place.
By enhancing transparency, traceability, and sustainability throughout the supply chain, the iSNR program is poised to boost India's global competitiveness in the natural rubber industry. Rubber exporters can register on the iSNR platform through the Rubber Board website (www.rubberboard.gov.in), accessing necessary documents, data, and geolocation information. It is expected to bring significant benefits to the Indian rubber industry, including improved market access, increased revenue and enhanced environmental practices.
Indian rubber exporters can register on the iSNR platform through the Rubber Board Website. Upon registration, the platform provides all necessary documents and data, including traceability certificates, due diligence declarations and geo location data sets to ensure full compliance with the EUDR, once the polygon mapping is complete.
