KOHIMA, July 04 2020: The Nagaland government has directed owners not to let loose their domesticated animals in open to prevent spread of deadly coronavirus. It said the pets are rummaging through waste bins and feeding on leftover foods in vicinity of Covid-19 hospital and care centres.
“They are posing a threat to public health and safety especially in view of the pandemic”, an official order stated.
The order directed all pet owners to restrain dogs and domesticated animals to prevent their venturing out and possible transmission of COVID-19 and other diseases. It warned that failure to comply with the order shall invite strict actions on owners as per provisions of law.
