Coronavirus: Chinese food products banned in NE

AGARTALA, February 08, 2020: Authorities of some states in India’s northeast has imposed a ban on import of foodstuffs and perishable items from China amid fears over the novel coronavirus. Manipur and Mizoram have also enforced restrictions on trade with some south-eastern countries.
Regional state governments have put restrictions on import and trade as a precautionary measure though no confirmed detection of coronavirus patient so far.
Screening of passengers are taking place in all airports, border check posts and rail stations in northeast with help of thermal detection gadgets. A large number of doctors and paramedics are involved in the process.
Foreign tourists especially from China and surrounding countries are being watched at their locations.
