AGARTALA, October 07, 2024: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stated Monday that the state government, home department and administration are taking all necessary measures to maintain law and order in Kadamtala area in North District. He stated this during his visit to community Durga Puja venue in Agartala and stated that the situation is now under control and peaceful.
Dr Saha also highlighted Tripura's long-standing tradition of celebrating Shardotsav (Durga Puja festival) peacefully and smoothly.
However, as a precautionary measure, internet facilities have been temporarily suspended in north Tripura and Unakoti districts, according to police. There have been reports of shops being set on fire and houses being ransacked in Kadamtala market and surrounding areas.
There is also a report of a mosque being damaged. In response, security forces have been deployed to defuse the tension.
The current tension is a result of demands for puja subscriptions from members of a different community.
