Chinese aggression: Indian Army given emergency powers

NEW DELHI, June 17 2020 (HS) Four Indian soldiers are still in critical condition, while some are reportedly missing after a violent clash that took place on Monday night in the Galwan Valley region of Eastern Ladakh. 20 soldiers including a Colonel rank officer killed in the Chinese aggression.
Meanwhile the United Stations has spoken to India-China on the violent clash and asked both the countries to maintain peace and tranquility in the region.
According to highly placed sources, Indian Army has been given emergency power to deal with complete any further Chinese aggression on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Besides, the armed forces have also been instructed to not retreat an inch from their position.
The ITBP has been asked to remain alert in 180 posts along LAC.
There is no official statement from China on the 43 casualties suffered by its military during the skirmish with Indian Army. Choppers were seen making sorties were observed on the Chinese side of the LAC to airlift casualties.
US intelligence believes that 35 Chinese soldiers have died in the confrontation.
Kundan Kant Ojha, who was martyred in this violent clash, was posted in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh Range only two weeks back. At 3 pm Tuesday afternoon, an Indian Army officer called his home and informed family members about Kundan's martyrdom. He was married two years ago and has a 15-day-old newborn daughter, whom he had not even seen.
The body of Colonel Santosh Babu, killed in same clash, will reach Hyderabad at 4 pm Wednesday. The Colonel's wife and children who are staying in Delhi will go with the body.
