Chief Minister launches state level bicycle distribution programme
Distribution among IX girl students would cost of Rs10,01,66,700

AGARTALA, December 02, 2024: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced that the state government is working towards the upliftment of women in the state by introducing various schemes. One such initiative is the distribution of bicycles among Class-IX girl students with an expenditure of Rs10,01,66,700.
He was speaking at the launching of the state level bicycle distribution programme at the Pallimangal HS School, Khayerpur, near Agartala, Monday.
The state government has also made 33% reservation for women in government jobs and 50% reservation for women in Panchayats. A dedicated battalion for women in the Tripura State Rifles has been created, and numerous schemes for girl students and school infrastructure have been introduced, Chief Minister said.
He stated that free education has been declared for girls in colleges while Pink Toilets have been opened for women as a welfare measure.
The distribution of bicycles is a landmark decision taken by the state government, and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi always stressed the development and upliftment of women as they constitute around 50% of the population, Dr Saha added.
