AGARTALA, August 08, 2024: BSF has Thursday confirmed the return of 17 workers who were stranded in Bangladesh due to prevailing unrest in the country. The frontier office of the force informed that these workers were employed by Afcons Infrastructure Limited, a multinational construction and engineering company based in Mumbai.
The company had been awarded a bid to construct a 52 km four-lane highway from Akhaura to Kishoreganj. The rescue and return of the workers was initiated after Frontier IG Patel Piyush Purusottam Das received a distress call from the workers, who were stranded at their camp in Ramrail, Bangladesh.
The BSF also mentioned the cooperation they received from their counterpart, the BGB. The joint efforts of the forces obtained necessary customs and immigration clearances to ensure the safe return of the 17 workers.
