BSF - BGB joint retreat ceremony at Agartala border

AGARTALA, March 26 2021: Border Security Force is organising series of events to jointly celebrate the 101st birth anniversary of “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” as a part of year long programme and to commemorate the 50thAnniversary year of Independence of Bangladesh besides, highlighting the contribution made by BSF in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. ![](https://indigenousherald.com/ImagesForAll/BSF BGB Slide.jpg)
These events also aim to promote the comradeship & sportsman spirit amongst the troops of BSF and BGB as well as amity among the border population living on the both sides of International Border.
In these endeavours, one 'Maitree Cycle Rally' was organised on January 10 from West Bengal, which went all along the border under “Eastern Command of BSF and concluded after 66 days i.e. on March 17 (Birth date of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman). Subsequently, as a part of “BSF-BGB Maitree Football Match Series” the first match was conducted on March 18 at Brijendra Kishor Football Stadium, Belonia, District South Tripura.
In another such initiative Friday March 26 BSF – BGB Joint Retreat Ceremony” has been conducted at ICP Agartala (India) – ICP Akhaura (Bangladesh) to commemorate the ‘Independence Day of Bangladesh’. It is to mention here that BSF played very pivotal role in the Independence of Bangladesh, not only by training the Mukti Bahini Yodhas, but also by keeping the liberation struggle alive by extending logistics support to the freedom fighters till Liberation of Bangladesh.
Such special initiatives will definitely result in further strengthening the bond of mutual trust and further enhance the co-ordination between the two Border Guarding Forces - BSF & BGB, in turn, this will further strengthen the ties between the two friendly peace loving Nations - India and Bangladesh.
