AGARTALA, December 03 2022: BJP has launched hectic campaign to stall the headway of opposition parties, especially the TIPRA headed by royal scion Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, in the tribal reserved seats as party is seeking mandate for its return to power in February 2023 state assembly elections.
It made an encouraging start with former Tripura Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb addressing a tribal rally in south Tripura Saturday. The public meeting at Chittamara organised by the Janajati Morcha, tribal front of the BJP, saw an impressive attendance of the natives.
Deb lambasted the opposition parties suggesting that the Congress has always been the ‘B Team’ of the CPI(M) and the covert alliance was the result of lack of development and progress in Tripura. He said the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the south district like many was possible due to the incumbent BJP government.
“Congress, CPI(M) and the TIPRA are seasonal parties as they hit the streets only during election time”, the former Chief Minister lamented and added during reigns of the left front the farmers were forced to join CPI(M) party meetings and programmes to show allegiance.
‘Now income of the farmers almost doubled with the help of various central and state government schemes. The state and its people were deprived of development in past.”
