Bangladesh soldier killed in restive hills

AGARTALA, August 18, 2019: One Bangladesh army soldier killed in an ambush in tribal majority restive Chittagong Hill Tracts. The incident which is attributed as a sign of return of insurgency situation in the hills occurred on Sunday.
Bangladesh defense media wing ISPR confirmed the incident, but it referred armed militants as ‘miscreants’. It said the soldier died in a gunfight at Poaiytukhum in Rangamati district on Sunday.
Slain soldier was named as ‘Nasim’. He was just 19.
Details surrounding the incident were not immediately known.
Chittagong Hill Tracts commonly called CHT has been witnessing regular targeted killings and murder after kidnapping which are linked to feud between factional groups that in past waged insurgency to demand a separate tribal homeland.
