Bangladesh police probing murder of a journalist
20-year-old assailant arrested in case connection

REGIONAL, October 12, 2024: A journalist from a rural area in Mymensingh in Bangladesh was murdered and a 20-year-old youth named Sagor has been arrested in case connection. The incident took place on Saturday at approximately 11:30 am.
The victim, Swapan Bhadra, 55, had earlier served as the vice-president of the Tarakanda Press Club. He was employed by both the national daily Khobor Patra and the local daily Ajker Khobor.
The police said Sagor, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attempted to flee after committing the murder. They recovered blade used in the killing.
The motive behind the murder is still not clear.
