AGARTALA, September 1, 2019: Bangladesh government on Sunday warned that a small intensity blast in Dhaka on Saturday night could be a prelude to bigger attack. Country’s roads and bridges minister Obaidul Quader said the attack was apparently aimed at police, but ministers and politicians could be target in future attacks.
Reports said two policemen injured in the incident that took place around 8:50 pm (IST) in Dhaka’s Science Laboratory intersection.
Incidentally one of injured policemen was escorting Minister Tazul Islam through the area.
“It is likely they (militants) are doing smaller incidents as ‘test cases’ before going for big,” Quader told newsmen.
Bangladesh police have not spoken at length over the incident that caused panic among city dwellers.
