GUWAHATI, September 8, 2019: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday allayed fear and assured that Article 371 would remain in force in northeast India. This Article incorporated in Indian Constitution grants special provisions to the region made up of seven states.
Shah was addressing the 68th plenary session of the North Eastern Council in Guwahati on Sunday.
Governors and Chief Ministers of the member states are attending the plenary session of the council established in 1971.
"After abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir there were attempts to mislead and misguide the people of Northeast that Article 371 would also be scrapped by the Centre", he said.
