Amit Shah called for a campaign to promote organic products

Minister urged promotion of organic products during upcoming festivals

NATIONAL, January 01, 2024: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah Wednesday called for a campaign to promote organic products in India. He stressed the importance of identifying sources of organic products and ensuring their purity.

He suggested that National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL) should focus on building a strong supply chain of authentic organic products under its "Bharat Organics" brand.

Amit Shah also urged farmers associated with Amul dairies and NDDB institutions to adopt organic farming. He also emphasised the need for fair and attractive prices for organic products and called for a meeting with Amul to determine the prices of organic flour and Arhar dal in the interest of farmers.

Minister also urged promotion of organic products during upcoming festivals. Amit Shah also called for all PACS in the country to become sources of organic agricultural products, centres for the sale of organic products and centres for the sale of seeds. He also emphasized the importance of proper training for PACS members and farmers.

He also suggested that NABARD and the Ministry of Cooperation should collaborate to formulate a new mechanism for PACS loans.
