83rd meeting of the Brahmaputra Board held, coordination stressed

REGIONAL, October 14, 2024: The 83rd meeting of the Brahmaputra Board, a government body established to plan and implement erosion control and flood control measures in the Northeastern Region (NER) was held Monday in Chumoukedima. The meeting was chaired by Dr Ranbir Singh, Chairman of the Brahmaputra Board.
The board highlighted the importance of collaboration among departments and agencies to develop sustainable projects for water resources management and conservation in the northeastern region. The region plays a crucial role in water resources management accounting for 30% of local body water resource management.
The board stressed the need for coordination with the water resources department to address water issues and strengthen the Brahmaputra Board. They also highlighted the want for additional manpower, specifically Deputy, Superintendent, and Executive engineers.
The event also featured innovative designs from WRD Nagaland, including the Trench Weir, and showcased the use of Web-GIS technology.
