17.70 crore voters to choose from 1,717 candidates in nine states

NATIONAL, May 12, 2024: The stage is set for the fourth phase of polling for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which will take place tomorrow (Monday). This phase will cover 96 Lok Sabha seats across nine states and one Union Territory.
These include 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 17 seats in Telangana, 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 11 seats in Maharashtra, eight seats each in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, five seats in Bihar, four seats each in Jharkhand and Odisha, and one seat in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Voting will begin at 7 am and end at 6 PM. The Election Commission has announced that the polling time in certain assembly segments of 17 Parliamentary Constituencies in Telangana has been extended to encourage more voter participation.
A total of 17.70 crore voters, including 8.97 crore male and 8.73 crore female voters, are eligible to cast their votes in this phase. There are a total of 1,717 candidates in the fray for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
The fate of several prominent candidates will be decided as their names are sealed in the EVMs during this phase. These include Union Ministers and BJP leaders Giriraj Singh, Arjun Munda, G Kishan Reddy, Ajay Kumar Mishra, JDU’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, TMC’s Mahua Moitra, Shatrughan Sinha and Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM.
