4th meeting of Task Force for development of Tourism in NE

NATIONAL, April 25, 2024: The 4th meeting of the Task Force for the Development of Tourism in the North East was held in New Delhi Thursday. Officials from all eight North Eastern states - Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura - were present at the meeting.
Other stakeholders included NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, the Ministry of Textiles, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and private partners. The task force discussed strategies and an action plan for the comprehensive and sustainable development of tourism in the North East region, with a focus on engaging with stakeholders in the private sector.
Earlier, during the Consultative Committee meeting for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) in September 2022, it was proposed to form a Task Force for the development of tourism in the North Eastern Region.
As a result, a Task Force was constituted on October 20, 2023 under the Ministry of DoNER with representatives from relevant ministries, state governments, and other stakeholders.
