To promote sustainable and scientific mining, improve business ease

REGIONAL, June 26, 2025: The 2nd North East Geology and Mining Ministers' Conclave will be held in Guwahati from June 27 to 28 aiming to promote sustainable and scientific mining, improve business ease in the resource sector and strengthen centre-state coordination for regional development.
The event will feature sessions and releases from the Geological Survey of India, signing Memoranda of Understanding and highlighting progress under the National Mineral Exploration Trust. India's mineral auction framework has gained momentum with 161 mineral blocks successfully auctioned from FY 2024-25.
The Ministry of Coal will launch two publications, highlighting progress made in recent years, including successful auctions of five coal blocks and plans for 1,000 MW of solar power capacity in Assam. The conclave signifies a convergence of efforts between the Ministry of Mines and the Ministry of Coal aligning energy security with regional development and environmental sustainability.
