REGIONAL, April 30, 2025: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has demonstrated wireless image transmission via radio signals without internet for the first time in northeast India during their second-phase training programme. The training programme equipped NSDMA's District Project Associate (DPAs) with practical Morse code applications, hands-on antenna construction workshops and a comprehensive mock fire rescue drill using amateur radio communications.

The Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, praised the effort and assigned the special call sign "AT2NE" to the expedition in amateur radio throughout Kohima, Nagaland. The demonstration proved radio's vital role when modern networks fail, and the 'AT2NE' call sign recognizes the commitment to advancing communication resilience nationwide.

Dr Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer (Joint CEO), NSDMA, stated that professionals in Disaster Management should be involved on a mission mode and work to harvest the communication capability of transfer image through voice frequency using HAM radio.
