ODISHA, often described as India’s best-kept cultural treasure, is a land where ancient traditions, artistic excellence, and natural beauty coexist in perfect harmony. From its classical dance forms and vibrant folk traditions to exquisite crafts, handlooms, and a rich culinary legacy, Odisha reflects the depth and diversity of India’s cultural heritage.

Following the resounding success of Odisha Parab, Bengaluru, the Department of Tourism, Odisha, is taking this flagship cultural and tourism showcase to multiple cities across India, with the objective of presenting experience-led tourism and the State’s diverse offerings to wider audiences. As part of this national outreach, Odisha Parab, Guwahati marks the second edition of the initiative, strategically positioned in the North-East.

To bring the spirit of Odisha alive beyond its borders, the Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, in collaboration with the Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture, and with active participation from the Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, ORMAS, ADISHA, and the Mission Shakti Department, is organising Odisha Parab, Guwahati, a three-day cultural and tourism showcase from 30th January to 1st February at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati. With Guwahati serving as a major transit and cultural hub for the North-East, the event aims to engage regional audiences and strengthen cultural and tourism linkages between Odisha and the North-Eastern states.

Odisha Parab, Guwahati seeks to introduce audiences to Odisha’s living traditions, creative expressions, and diverse tourism offerings through an immersive and engaging experience. The event will present a holistic portrayal of the State’s identity by seamlessly blending culture, cuisine, crafts, destinations, handlooms, textiles, and handicrafts under one roof.

A major highlight of the event will be live craft demonstrations, where master craftsmen from Odisha will create traditional handicrafts in real time, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness the artistry, techniques, and heritage behind Odisha’s renowned craft traditions. Dedicated craft and handloom stalls will showcase a wide range of Odisha’s iconic handicrafts and textiles, including handwoven fabrics, traditional designs and GI-tagged products.

Visitors will be able to interact directly with artisans, understand the stories behind each creation, and take-home authentic pieces of Odisha’s cultural legacy.

The culinary segment will offer an equally immersive experience through live cuisine demonstrations and curated food stalls featuring authentic Odia dishes. The showcase will highlight the diversity of Odisha’s food culture, including tribal cuisine, coastal specialities, and traditional Odia desserts such as Chhena Poda. A special attraction will be live cooking demonstrations by MasterChef Abinash Nayak from Odisha, presenting time-honoured recipes alongside contemporary interpretations rooted in traditional flavours.

Odisha Parab, Guwahati will also feature a vibrant line-up of classical, folk, and tribal cultural performances, capturing the rhythm, storytelling, and martial traditions of the State. Performances will include Odissi, Gotipua, Sambalpuri, Paika Akhada, Ghumura, Sahijata, Dhemsa, Chhau and Ghuduki, offering audiences a comprehensive glimpse into Odisha’s rich performing arts heritage.

In addition to cultural showcases, the event will highlight Odisha’s tourism potential, introducing visitors to the State’s destinations, experiential travel offerings and heritage circuits. Special initiatives such as a Diaspora Meet and a Tourism Roadshow will be organised as part of Odisha Parab, Guwahati, providing a platform for engagement with the Odia diaspora, tourism stakeholders, business communities and government representatives to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

A high-level delegation led by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida along with other senior officials will be present at the event and will interact with members of the Odia diaspora, prospective investors, and prominent tour operators from the North-East region. These interactions are aimed at strengthening tourism linkages, encouraging investment, and fostering long-term partnerships aligned with Odisha’s tourism and cultural development vision.

Envisioned as more than a cultural festival, Odisha Parab, Guwahati serves as a platform for dialogue, exchange, and celebration, reinforcing shared cultural values and strengthening inter-regional connections. The event reflects Odisha’s continued commitment to preserving its heritage while promoting sustainable tourism, inclusive outreach and experience-led destination promotion.
