NECCC ventilates anxieties on Manipur violence
Incidents resulted in loss of more than 73 lives

GUWAHATI, May 24 2023: After the outbreak of ethnic violence and massive deterioration of law & order in Manipur since May 3 2023, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Guwahati (North East) tomorrow (Thursday).
Manipur is in dire straits after massive outbreak of ethnic violence, arson, vandalizing, massive destruction of Churches and temples since May 3 and the Union Government seems a silent spectator to all such incidents which has resulted in loss of more than 73 lives, loss of property and displacement of people running into several thousands. Why is Manipur being neglected? Does Manipur bequeath such an oppressive treatment?
In view of the prevailing grim situation, the North East Congress Coordination Committee demands an answer from the Union Home Minister on the following -
- Manipur State has “Double Engine” government and despite it no Union Minister has bothered to visit the state to take stock of the situation since outbreak of the communal clashes. When is the Union Government showing accountability while innocent people are suffering?
- When is the ban on internet & broadband services being restored? The repeated ban on internet services has adversely affected education, banking and other essential services.
- What is the stand on the Union Govt. on the memorandum dated May 15 2023 signed & submitted by 10 Kuki MLA’s (7 belonging to BJP including 2 Minister’s)?
- What steps have been for recovery of about 1,420 weapons looted from police armory since outbreak of the clashes?
- When is the peace talks between 24 Kuki - Zomi insurgent groups, under suspension of operation (SOO) resuming?
- What steps have the Union Home Ministry initiated for granting adequate compensation to all whose lost their property in during the conflict in the Hills & Valley of Manipur?
The North East Congress Coordination Committee for initiating urgent steps for resolving the Manipur crisis and end the perturbing uncertainty prevailing in the Valley and Hills of Manipur.
