AGARTALA, April 13, 2024: The Election Commission issued a warning to Kriti Devi Debbarman, the BJP candidate for the East Tripura (ST) Lok Sabha constituency, on basis of complaint by CPI(M) for allegedly branding it as a party of murderers. The commission prima facie held her violating the model code of conduct.

The CPI(M) state Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury earlier lodged a complaint against her with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.  She was accused of making the statement at an election rally in Fatikroy of Unakoti district.

The commission swung into action after reviewing primary and secondary evidences. Debbarman was directed not to breach MCC.
