Judicial commission announced to probe tragic mine accident
REGIONAL: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma Monday announced the formation of a Judicial Inquiry Commission to investigate tragic mining accident in the Mynsngat Thangsko area resulted in 27 deaths and nine injuries on February 5.
A state government official said the government had coordinated relief and rescue efforts, deploying emergency teams including the district administration and disaster response forces. Difficult search and recovery operations were conducted to help those affected.
Support and financial assistance for the families of victims and the injured have been promised.
