WORLD: The White House, led by US President Donald Trump, announced Saturday the establishment of an international panel - Executive Committee for the Board of Peace - to address the devastation in Gaza caused by months of war and destruction. The Executive Committee of the Board of Peace includes notable members such as Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatari diplomat Ali Thawadi, Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, UAE Minister Reem Al-Hashimy and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The inclusion of Qatar and Turkey in the main panel has provoked Israel due to their critical stance on Israeli aggression towards the Palestinian enclave.
The panel's main objective is to oversee the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), which is responsible for providing essential and civic services. The NCAG, headed by former Palestinian Authority minister Ali Shaath, a technocrat, is tasked with restoring public services and establishing governance in Gaza.
While the Board of Peace, chaired by President Trump, will have a symbolic role, the Executive Committee will function operationally.
