'Digital Bharat Nidhi' rules under the Telecom Act 2023
It replaced the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF)

NATIONAL, September 01, 2024: The union government has implemented the 'Digital Bharat Nidhi' rules under the Telecom Act 2023 replacing the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF).
The Digital Bharat Nidhi will fund schemes and projects aimed at providing targeted access to telecommunication services for underserved groups, including women, persons with disabilities, and economically and socially weaker sections.
The initiative aims to enhance telecom connectivity across rural and underserved areas, ensuring these areas are integrated into India's mission to become a telecommunications leader. The funding will be provided to implementers for executing schemes and projects.
