AGARTALA: India has clarified that there was no attempt to breach the fence or create a security situation by protesters gathered outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. In response to a media query, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that a group of approximately 20 to 25 youth had gathered in front of the Bangladesh High Commission Saturday to raise slogans in protest against the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh.

The MEA also mentioned that the protesters were calling for the safety of all minorities in Bangladesh. The MEA further clarified that the police deployed at the spot dispersed the group after a few minutes.

It also called out the misleading propaganda being spread in sections of the Bangladesh media regarding the incident and emphasized that visual evidence of these events is publicly available for all to see.

The Ministry reaffirmed India's commitment to ensuring the safety of foreign Missions and Posts in its territory in accordance with the Vienna Convention. It stated that India is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the country (Bangladesh) and that Indian officials are in contact with Bangladesh authorities expressing strong concerns about the attacks on minorities.

India has also urged for the perpetrators of the barbaric killing of Das to be brought to justice.
