'Sustainable Material Innovation of the Year’
REGIONAL: BitChem Asphalt Technologies Limited, Guwahati-based venture and a leading company in green and sustainable road construction technologies, has been awarded the prestigious “Sustainable Material Innovation of the Year” at the Build India Infra Awards 2026 for its breakthrough pollution-free and zero-emission road binder – Green Bitumen.
The award recognises BitChem’s pioneering contribution towards enabling pollution-free, energy-efficient construction practices and creating durable roads in India through its successful field deployment in 51 kms project of Road Construction Department, Government of Bihar. Bitchem is a Technology Development Board, Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of India funded venture and we are thankful to Secretary, TDB Rajesh Pathak for his support to Bitchem.
The award was presented by the Chief Guest for the event – Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, in the presence of Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.
Green Bitumen is an advanced tailor made cold-mix binder technology developed to eliminate the need for conventional hot-mix asphalt operations. The technology significantly reduces fuel consumption, avoids greenhouse gas emissions and creates zero on-site air pollution, while enabling durable and high-performance road assets.
