KOHIMA, January 17, 2020: A National outreach programme, GeM Samvaad- was held Friday at Directorate of Treasuries & Accounts, Kohima. It is being held across the country from December 19 2019 to February 17 2020.
Government e Marketplace (GeM) which was launched on August 9 2016 is the national public procurement portal offering end to end solution for all procurement needs of Government departments and their autonomous bodies. GeM has transformed the public procurement in the country by leveraging technology and making procurement contactless, paperless, and cashless. It's basic aim is to provide efficiency, transparency and economy.
GeM Samvaad outreach programme will involve stakeholders and local sellers inorder to facilitate on boarding of local sellers on market place while catering to specific requirements as well as procurement needs of the buyers. Rule 149 of General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017 mandates procurement of all common use of goods and services available in GeM portal mandatory for all government departments.
GeM portal will provide transparency and ease of buying; offers rich listing of products for individual category of goods/services; easy to comprehend interface to search, compare, select and buy; user friendly dashboard for monitoring supplies and payments; online grievance redress mechanism for quick resolution; provision for bunching of products and bundling if services; option to provide multiple consignee locations and quantity.
One can register as a primary buyer by signing up using Adhaar card and registered mobile number, while for sellers one can easily registered with MCA 21, Aadhaar and pan information. For further details one can login to www.gem.gov.in
Special Secretary, Finance, V Kezo, who gave the key note address, said that GeM is a platform that will thrive to bring transparency and bring fast procurement procedure. He said that one may struggle to familiarize with the portal of GeM but it will benefit us in the long run. Therefore, he urged the stakeholders, departments and businesses communities to have the willingness to study, learn and experiment, which the central Government has created a platform for the benefit of buyers and sellers.
The resource persons for the programme were Paritosh Singhal, ACED, GeM; Nirmal Kumar, DCEO, GeM; and Biswajit Sankar, BF, GeM. All Government departments, State Public Sector undertakings, all commercial organisations, start-ups, Self- Help groups, Artisans, crafts persons also attended the programme.
