Tripura DGP elaborates security for Durga puja

AGARTALA, October 4, 2019: Massive security arrangements and alert are in place as Tripura starts celebrating Durga puja – largest annual festival in the region. Number of community Durga puja swelled to over 2459 in the state this year including 305 in Agartala.
Director General of Police Akhil Kumar Shukla on Friday elaborated measures taken for safety of general public in festival days. “Around 9000 security personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure peaceful environment during festival days”, he told newsmen.
Agartala has been under security blanket in wake of security assessment, Shukla stated makeshift police booths, watch towers, beat patrol and CC TV camera surveillance are part of security arrangements made.
DGP said extra vigil would be maintained in railway stations as Durga puja pulls large crowd by trains during festival. BSF has been alerted to properly manage international border.
Meanwhile Tripura government has assured uninterrupted power supply during days of Durga puja. The state approached neighbouring states for extra supply of electricity.
