Left trade unions strike affected life in Tripura

AGARTALA, January 8, 2020: The general strike called by left trade unions in the country Wednesday affected normal life and business in Tripura. The call disrupted normal life and business across the state.
Police said the strike was passing peacefully. CPI(M) however alleged ruling BJP created chaos at many places and threatened traders to open their shops.
Lok Sabh Member Pratima Bhowmik led a group of supporters through Agartala city thoroughfares to oppose the Bandh on the ground. BJP squads under leadership of local leaders also staged protest against the strike at several localities.
The strike affected transport and train services in the state. Banks were completely closed while attendance in government offices was thing.
School and colleges did not function.
CPI(M) alleged that some of its party officers were ransacked and burnt in city outskirts. It also registered a complaint of an attack on party supporters at Kailashahar in north Tripura.
