Industrial units need to come up far from town, Jacob

KOHIMA, January 8, 2020: Nagaland Minister for Public Health Engineering Jacob Zhimomi, who is also the Chairman DPDB Dimapur, expressed serious concern about the presence of industrial units in the residential areas and near the school vicinities.
Addressing the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Dimapur district Wednesday in Dimapur, Jacob specifically stated that establishments of brick kilns, stone crushers/ quarrying within school and residential areas will not be permitted if the industrial units do not fulfill the required provisions as it pertains to health issues, pollution and water contamination.
Necessary action will be taken against the defaulters, Zhimomi cautioned. Expressing concern Jacob said that industrial units need to be far away from residential areas in tandem with the Central guidelines. He called upon the Industry, Pollution Control Board and Labour department to have a sitting and if need be to cancel the registration of the defaulting industrial units.
On the issue of implementing Inner Line Permit in Dimapur, Jacob re-iterated that the regulation was not to harass any citizen but to know who is entering the state and for what purpose. "It is to prevent illegal immigrants from illegally entering the State," Jacob maintained. He further mentioned about the Government's notification in 1979 where approval was given to extent tribal belt to the entire District of Dimapur and said that ILP was not a new concept. There are various categories for tourists, labour class, skilled labour, renewal basis, SMS alerts and other technological involvement so there is no need to panic," Jacob assured.
